When is the best time to go?
Croatia has an extended sailing season that begins in June and continues through the end of September. Wind & Wine Croatia operates tours for 16 consecutive weeks during this time period. Sea water temperatures range from 22° - 28°C (71° - 82°F) and air temperatures vary between 25° – 35°C (77° - 95°F). To check availability, please visit “Schedule” or click here.
Sailing yacht vs catamaran?
Catamarans are an excellent choice for those with no previous sailing experience or for those who prefer smoother sailing. With two hulls, catamarans provide greater stability, comfort and somewhat faster sailing with one engine in each hull. Modern catamarans have a shallow draft making the access to the shore and shallow bays easier.
Where does the crew sleep?
The skipper and host each have their own cabin.
Will towels and sheets be provided on the yacht?
Yes, bath towels will be provided as well as bed linens for each cabin.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
We can accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies. All dietary concerns should be noted on the trip application form and we will work with you to ensure the appropriate modifications are provided.
Is there a safe on the yacht?
There are no safes, however the entrance to the interior of the yacht can be locked.
Can I connect my iPhone/iPod to the sound system on the yacht?
Most yachts have the capability to connect your device to the sound system via an AUX cable. Cables are not provided so be sure to pack an AUX cable.

What should I bring with me?
It is best to pack a soft suitcase. In addition to your documents, clothes and toiletries, we highly recommend bringing: high SPF sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, waterproof wind jacket, waterproof cases for personal electronic equipment (cameras, phones, laptops, etc), mosquito repellant, swimsuit, summer clothes (casual, comfortable and lightweight), comfortable sandals for walking, flip flops, rubber soled shoes and diving/water shoes (suitable for walking on the rocks).

Does the luggage have a weight limit?
No, but storage space onboard is limited. We recommend packing in a small (cabin-sized) soft suitcase.

What if I am a single traveler?
At this time, Wind & Wine Croatia does not offer single cabins.
Can we book if we are greater or fewer than a group of 6 persons?
To accommodate groups greater or fewer than 6 persons per yacht, please contact us directly at info@windandwinecroatia.com for available options.
What if I am a smoker?
Smoking is prohibited inside the yacht/catamaran and the cabins. On deck, smoking may be permitted subject to guest approval. If you or any member of your party is a smoker, please let us know at time of booking. If smoking is permitted on deck, a thoughtful guest will go to the stern or downwind side of the yacht where the smoke blows away.
What if I am prone to seasickness?
If you are prone to motion sickness or are concerned that you might develop symptoms, please pack preventive measure prior to boarding.
Options include but are not limited to, over-the-counter drugs such as Dramamine and Bonine, wearing Sea-Band wristbands or opting for a drug-free solution of eating ginger or green apples. For those preferring stronger prescription drugs, we recommend meeting with your personal physician to discuss an effective prescription of Meclizine (25mg tablets).
From what marina will the yachts depart and return in Croatia?
Round-trip travel is from SCT Marina or Baotić Yacht Club in Trogir/Split, both of which are located relatively close to Split International Airport. The designated marina will be specified in your booking documents.
When do I have to arrive on the first day and when does the yacht return on the last day in Croatia?
We recommend you arrive at the Wind & Wine Croatia reception desk at 2:00pm Central European Time (CET). Here you will complete the registration process, board the yacht and meet the crew for a planned departure at 2:30pm CET. Yachts will return to Trogir at approximately 6:00pm CET on the last day.
Is tipping customary in Croatia?
Tipping is discretionary and customary. Average tipping in Croatia is between 10 - 15% and always greatly appreciated.
How do I pay?
Payment will be made directly with Wind & Wine Croatia. Accepted forms of payment include wire transfer, credit card (Visa, MasterCard and AMEX) and debit card.
Is a visa needed to visit Croatia?
A valid passport is required for travel to Croatia. EU regulations require that U.S. passport holders have no less than three months validity left on their passport when they depart Croatia. U.S. passport holders with less than three months remaining validity will be denied entry. The U.S. Embassy strongly suggests that you have at least six months validity to avoid problems when you travel.
A visa is not required for U.S. passport holders for temporary tourist and business trips up to 90 days (during a six-month period, starting from the day of the first entry). However, all foreign citizens are required by law to register with the local police within 24 hours of arrival. Foreigners staying in hotels or other accommodations through a rental company are automatically registered by the hotelier or the rental company. Wind & Wine Croatia will register all foreign citizens for the Wind & Wine Croatia program.

Note: Although Croatia became a member of the European Union (EU) on July 1, 2013, it is not yet a member of the Schengen area, which means a passport is required for travel between Croatia and other European Union member states.
For home countries other than the United States, please check the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website for visa requirements for Croatia. If you do need a visa, please contact the Croatian Embassy in your home country for more information. (There is a list of Embassies on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website.)

Trust Account
California Law requires certain sellers of travel to have a trust account or bond. WWC has such a trust account.
California Seller of Travel Program
California has established a Travel Consumer Restitution Fund under the California Seller of Travel Law. This fund is designed to protect consumers from unscrupulous practices by airfare ticket sellers or air charter operators. This law does not cover non-California residents and, even in the case of California residents, it does not cover any foreign travel where the foreign “providers of transportation or travel services” are not in compliance with the Seller of Travel Law (compliance being defined as registered as a Seller of Travel in California and a participant in the Travel Consumer Restitution Fund). Thus, no WWC program comes within the purview of this law. The law requires all tour operators to advise each of their clients that they would not be eligible to make any claim from the Fund in the unlikely event of any default by WWC or any of its foreign suppliers. It is understood that all Guests of WWC are not eligible to make any claim against said Fund. CST # 2133776-40.
Cancellations, Transfers, Refunds
Written notification of cancellation must be received by WWC in order to cancel your reservation. All payments received by WWC prior to the date of the written cancellation notice will be subject to the cancellation penalties outlined below. Your payment will be refunded less the following cancellation fees calculated as of receipt date of written notice of cancellation:
Cancellation Fee Schedule
Date of notice prior to departure Cancellation fee as % of trip price

Up to 90 days 25 %
prior to program commencement

61 - 89 days 50 %
prior to program commencement

60 days or less 100 %
(including no-show)
Once a trip begins, there will be no refunds for any unused portion of the trip. This includes any pre/post-trip arrangements, transfers, meals, tours, hotels and “no shows” due to delay or failure of transportation to arrive or depart on time. Travel insurance coverage for such risks may be purchased and is encouraged by WWC.
WWC will not make exceptions to these cancellation policies for any reason, including but not limited to personal emergencies, inclement weather, or other foreseeable or unforeseeable circumstances.
Cancelled Trips
Although WWC rarely cancels trips, we reserve the right to rescind any trip prior to departure for any reason whatsoever, including too few participants, logistical problems such as strikes, wars, acts of God, or any other circumstances which may make operation of the trip inadvisable or unfeasible. All payments and deposits received will be promptly refunded within a reasonable timeframe. This refund will be the limit of WWC’s liability. WWC is not responsible for any expenses or damages incurred by participants as a consequence of any cancellation, such as trip preparation costs which may include non-refundable or penalty-carrying airline tickets, special clothing, visa or passport fees, lost income, or any other trip-related losses or expenses.
Travel Insurance
In order protect your travel investment, WWC strongly recommends purchasing adequate insurance coverage that may reimburse for pre and post-departure trip cancellation or trip interruption fees, lost baggage or travel documents, delayed luggage, trip delay, accidental death or dismemberment, and coverage for emergency medical expenses including emergency medical evacuation.
Note: Medicare does not provide coverage outside of the United States.
Coverage that includes a pre-existing medical condition exclusion waiver, trip cancelation or trip interruption due to financial default of an airline, cruise line, or tour operator may be permissible provided travel insurance is purchased within 15 days of the date on which WWC received your trip deposit.
Special Diets
With a minimum of 45 days notice, WWC can generally accommodate special dietary requests. For vegetarians, plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, rice, potatoes, pastas, and juices are typical throughout our travel destinations. You may wish to bring your favorite snacks if you are on a restrictive diet.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in yachts, boats, buses, vans, automobiles or during any group dining. Smoking is permitted outside on the downwind side of the stern of the yacht.
Accommodations
Room accommodations are based on double occupancy, each cabin with its own bathroom and toilet with a maximum occupancy of 6 (six) persons per yacht. For special requests, please contact WWC for customized solutions.
Physical Fitness
WWC trips may be taken by anyone in good physical condition. Physical activities such as climbing up and down stairs, walking over irregular terrain, and embarking and disembarking the yachts from a small dingys are common, and you are therefore encouraged to be in the necessary shape prior to departure. Please contact us if you have any questions about your ability to participate in the program. Please note that once a WWC trip has commenced and it is deemed necessary for you to leave because it is beyond your physical capability, there will be no refunds for any unused portion of the trip.
Information regarding the physical requirements will be provided with the pre-trip materials. In some cases, you may wish to discuss these with your physician. Health and safety throughout each trip remains our highest priority, but WWC is not a medical facility.
Medical
You must be in general good health. It is vital that persons with medical problems and related dietary restrictions make them known to us. You must advise us in writing, at or prior to booking, of any physical, emotional or mental condition which may require professional attention during the trip or may require the use of special equipment during the program. Based on these, our staff will advise and make recommendations prior booking. The WWC crew has the right to disqualify any member from the group at any time if considered a medical risk that may negatively impact the welfare of the individual or the group. Refunds are not given under such circumstances. If you fail to disclose any such conditions, WWC may refuse to allow you to board upon departure and the trip cost will be forfeited. In such an event, WWC shall have no liability, financial or otherwise.
You must bring and be responsible for all necessary items related to your physical, emotional or mental condition. If any such condition arises after the trip is booked, you must advise a WWC representative in writing immediately. Failure to advise such representative shall release WWC and all professional personnel from any liability related to such condition and its treatment.
WWC is not responsible for costs of any medical treatment you may require during the trip. Under no circumstance is WWC responsible for the quality of medical care, or lack thereof, you may receive while on the trip. We strongly recommend obtaining medical and dental insurance that will cover the cost of any need that may be required during your trip.
In addition, we cannot accommodate passengers requiring wheelchair assistance, as most WWC itineraries are not wheelchair-accessible.
WWC is not a medical facility and has no expertise or responsibility regarding which medications or inoculations you and/or your private physician deem necessary for your safe participation. A list of possible inoculations and immunizations will be provided in the Traveler’s Guide that is sent at the time of booking. WWC urges all participants to review the US Centers for Disease Control website (www.cdc.gov) before booking and before the trip commences. WWC assumes no liability regarding provision of medical care. Participants are encouraged to obtain adequate coverage.
